Coral Eclipse Stakes Odds, Betting Tips, Promotions & Predictions

Coral Eclipse Stakes is the biggest flat race of the season at Sandown Park and as such it attracts the biggest and best trainers. Sir Michael Stoute and Aiden O’Brien have each won this race six times so any time they enter a horse it must be noted.

This race takes place at Sandown Park and it is a right-handed track. Thus, horses who are more comfortable on their right front leg should be preferred to those who prefer to go left-handed. With Sandown having a reputation for being a stamina test it may well be worth looking for horses that can keep the pace for the full 1m2f distance.

Check out our TPP racecard for the most updated info as we get closer to the date.

Coral Eclipse Stakes 2022 Predictions

The favourite is expected to be the Prix du Jockey Club winner Vadeni, although the three-year-old needs to be supplemented into the race first. That race was over half a furlong longer than this and the way he put that race to bed was very impressive. He had potential rivals El Bodegon and Ivy League behind him too.

Bay Bridge is the main runner for Sir Michael Stoute. He was knocked off at Royal Ascot in the Prince of Wales’ Stakes where fellow entry for this race State Of Rest came out on top for Joseph O’Brien. Lord North was back in fifth there.

Native Trail was behind fellow entry Coroebus in the 2000 Guineas but righted that wrong when getting up in the Irish version of that race but only Ivy League from that contest reopposes here. They were both over a mile so there must be doubts over his stamina.

Mishriff offered nothing in the Saudi Cup earlier in the year but did win the Juddmonte at York over this trip in impressive fashion last year, with Alenguer six lengths back in second. The latter won the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh in May and had a number of rivals in this race behind him.

Real World was behind the wonder-horse Baaeed in the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot. The profile of this race will be enhanced if the latter fulfils its entry but it is likely to remain campaigned at a mile. Tuesday was another interesting entry after landing the Epsom Oaks however it has been entered into the Irish Derby and is unlikely to race in the Eclipse.

Summary: TPP Coral Eclipse Stakes 2022 Betting Tips

In conclusion, assuming it is supplemented, Vadeni is the horse to beat. Stone Age went off second favourite for the Epsom Derby at the beginning of June but sweated up prior to the race and didn’t quite get home over the 1m4f trip as a result. A drop back to 1m2 where it has form figures of 2-1-1, the first of those races on soft ground which is unlikely for this race, could benefit this horse. This is Aiden O’Brien’s leading fancy so could well have champion jockey Ryan Moore on board and may go off a lot shorter than the double figure price it traded at in the lead up to the race.

Look for Stone Age or Vadeni to win or place!

Popular Coral Eclipse Stakes Betting Markets

If you are new to the sport of horse racing, you may be surprised to know that there are several popular betting categories, called “markets” in the punter’s jargon. Here are some of the most popular betting markets available for the Eclipse stakes, as well as for most other racing events. Check our beginner’s guide to horse racing for more details.

1. To Win

A win bet is popular within all sports. This is where you place your bet on a horse to win and if it comes first you win. Any other position and your bet is a loser.

2. Each-Way Betting

An each-way bet offers more chance of winning but involves splitting your stake into two bets, a win bet and a place bet. If the horse wins you collect on the win half and the place half. If the horse comes in one of the place positions you collect on the place part but lose the stake of the win half. Make sure you are aware of the each way terms as some firms offer more places than others.

3. Forecast Bet

A forecast bet is where you are betting on which horse will win and which horse come second. The two horses will need to come first and second in that order for you to win.

4. Reverse Forecast

A reverse forecast is similar to the forecast bet except the two horses can come first and second in either order.

5. Double Bet

A double bet is where you pick horses in two different races and bet on them to win. If both horses win you win your bet however if one or both lose your bet is a loser.

6. Non Runner no Bet

Most bets have specific terms for a refund, meaning that if your horse does not run, for what ever reason, your bet will be cancelled and refunded. In the industry, this is called Non runner no bet.

Coral Eclipse Stakes Betting FAQs

ThePuntersPage Final Say

The Coral Eclipse is always one of the highlights of the racing calendar, and one of the most popular events in term of horse racing betting. And although not all of the 37 early entries will actually line up for the race, the field will be a very strong one as ever.

The favourite Vadeni looks the one to beat but it isn’t technically in the race yet so the value could lie in one of the outsiders, Stone Age, for the same winning connections as the 2021 version of the race. Aiden O’Brien’s charge should stay the trip and might have been forgotten too soon on the back of a run in the Epsom Derby last time out. At this distance he looks a very good horse and a danger to them all in this race.

Look for favourite Vadeni to perform well, but do not neglect outsider Stone Age either, to place or win!
